Usman holds LL.M degree in Corporate and Commercial Law from Queen Mary, University of London. He is an Advocate of the High Courts in Pakistan.
Usman has developed considerable experience in civil litigation and regularly appear before the High Court. He has been involved in various national and international arbitration proceedings and has appeared before the Pakistani courts in matters related to the enforcement of domestic and foreign arbitral awards.
He advise public and private limited companies on compliance issues. He has advised clients in connection with various transactions that involved merger and acquisitions, foreign exchange laws, labor laws, property and rent laws. He has been involved in conducting and preparing due diligence reports for different clients. He has been involved in drafting and negotiation of different contracts including share purchase agreements and shareholders’ agreements.
He recently conducted various training sessions for creating awareness regarding anti-bribery and anti-corruption policy of the client. He is advising a credit bureau in connection with different agreements with financial institutions.
He is a regular contributor to the Doing Business Report (a co-publication of the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation). He is a member of visiting faculty of Pakistan College of Law and has for a number of years combined his legal practice with teaching the subject of contract law to the external students of University of London.
